Caps to sign Ryan Miller to an AHL contract

Caps GM Brian MacLellan confirmed Wednesday that defenseman Ryan Miller will sign an AHL deal.

Miller, who was traded from the Anaheim Ducks to the New York Rangers last month, is eligible to return to the NHL.

The 21-year-old has two goals and three assists in 19 games with the Capitals this season.

He will be eligible to play for the Hershey Bears in the AHL this season, which is a division rival of the Caps.

The Bears are one of the top teams in the American Hockey League, and the Caps have been in the playoffs for two straight seasons.

Miller has two assists in 14 games with Hershey.
