The president on Thursday told reporters that the $1 trillion investment he made in infrastructure last week is “a very good idea.”
Trump was speaking at the White House on the heels of a report from The Associated Press that the Trump administration has been spending $1 billion on an infrastructure plan that was originally conceived as a response to Hurricane Katrina.
It includes the creation of new highways, water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants and other facilities.
The president has repeatedly said the project will bring a surge of jobs, create tens of thousands of construction jobs and raise taxes for people who already earn too much.
He also said the money has been spent to rebuild the nation’s infrastructure and he expects that it will lead to increased revenue for the government.
